In 1998 Mr. Kher left his corporate life as the Head of an American MNC in India to follow his dream of social service in the footsteps of his Grandfather, Late Mr. B. G. Kher to take over as President & Trustee of the Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (KSWA). KSWA was a launch pad where he started the Yuva Parivartan (YP) Movement by applying his management approach to identify and service a segment of the society which was relatively ignored by the government as well as NGOs – less educated deprived out-of-school dropouts through Livelihoods Training through its large and small Vocational Training Centers.
Yuva Parivartan is now in a position to help the National Skills Development Mission on a national basis by setting up 100 centers to enable local NGOs replicate the Yuva Parivartan Model. With each centre training 500 youth per annum a total of 3 lakh youth will have received training and with a multiplier of 20 this will impact the lives of 60 lakh people.
In the FY 2011-12 Yuva Parivartan had provided training to over 100,000 deprived youth and perhaps is the largest Livelihoods NGO in the country.
